BRIDEAR formed in Fukuoka in November 2011, founded by vocalist Kimi, guitarist Mitsuru and bassist Haru. Drummer Kai joined in February 2012, second guitarist Misa in April. The band’s first live show was at Spiral Factory in Fukuoka that same month.
Musically, BRIDEAR combines power metal, melodic heavy metal and progressive elements with J-pop hooks. Lyrics are written in both Japanese and English. The debut album Baryte appeared in 2016 on Radtone Music. The band has toured Europe several times since 2017 with shows in over 11 countries.
From 2017 onwards there were multiple lineup changes: Misa left in 2017, Mitsuru and Kai followed in 2018/2019, replaced by Misaki, Ayumi and Natsumi. In 2019 BRIDEAR signed with Avex Trax for the album Expose Your Emotions, then with Setsuzoku Records (UK) for Bloody Bride (2021). Misaki has been on hiatus since July 2022 and was replaced by Moe.
The 2024 album Born Again was recorded at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg with producer Fredrik Nordström (In Flames, At the Gates, HammerFall, Arch Enemy) and released via Psychomanteum Records. The closing track Die Like This features guest vocals from Nick Night (Dream Evil).
